JROTC: The mission of the JROTC program is "to motivate young people to be better citizens." The program seeks to train students in leadership and motivational skills that will serve them during their school years as well as throughout their lives. It also provides the positive support many teens need at this critical stage of their development. JROTC is not a recruitment program for the military. Although many graduating cadets pursue military training, equal numbers do not. Participation in JROTC incurs no military obligation, nor does the program apply any pressure in that direction. The military framework of the program is simply a very effective way to instill goal-directed, success-oriented attitudes and behaviors. The JROTC program also offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities that give students enjoyable ways to further develop the knowledge, values, and skills they learn in class. |
