Principal‘s Message

A  MESSAGE  FROM
Anita L. Andrews, Principal

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to the Gage Park High School community. This year we will continue to concentrate on the processes that spur advancement: evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve and identifying what we need to make those improvements a reality.

We are a Chicago Public School located on the southwest side of the city. The school serves a multi-cultural population of approximately 1700 students, 200 staff members and numerous community partners including S.W.O.P. (Southwest Organizing Project), IMAN, Southwest Youth Collaborative, Metropolitan Family Services, Daley College, Kennedy-King College, University of Chicago, University of Illinois and CISC (Communities in Schools Chicago).

Our challenging and rigorous curriculum and high-quality, standards-based instructional practices build skills and thinking strategies that empower students to be independent and successful throughout their lives. Just as important as building a strong academic foundation is the formation and strengthening of good citizenship. Students are encouraged to be responsible and fully engaged in their own learning.

We are proud of what we have accomplished in our classrooms, in our offices and on our playing fields and stages. Our achievements are not due to complacency and satisfaction with the status quo. Our program is what it is because we have a staff of dedicated, inspiring men and women who have a common goal - to do what is best for students. Teachers are not only highly qualified but also highly motivated! By working together we demonstrate to our children that their learning is of the highest importance with an attitude and spirit of community.

Parents, we look forward to a challenging and exciting year, continuing to work with you as partners in your children's education.

MISSION  STATEMENT
As members of the Gage Park High School Community, we will aspire to excellence and reject “making peace with mediocrity.”*
